Frequently Asked Questions

Planning a new kitchen or looking for custom cabinetry? Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.

Planning your kitchen

Manufacturing your custom kitchen cabinetry typically takes 4–6 weeks once your quote has been signed and all plans, materials and appliance selections have been confirmed.

We’ll keep you informed throughout the process and work with you to coordinate delivery and installation.

If your kitchen includes a stone benchtop, this is templated after the cabinetry has been installed. Manufacturing and installation of the stone benchtop can then take up to a further 10 days, depending on the material and supplier.

Yes! We work closely with a trusted network of contractors to help make your kitchen renovation as straightforward as possible.

Our contract builder can take care of removing your existing kitchen and completing any required building work. They can also help coordinate other trades, including plumbers, electricians, plasterers, painters and tilers, as required.

Our aim is to help bring everything together, from the initial planning through to the installation of your new kitchen.

We don’t directly supply or install flooring, but we’re happy to work alongside your flooring professional to help coordinate the timing of your project.

The correct installation sequence will depend on your flooring type and kitchen design, so we recommend discussing this with us before work begins.

Once you’ve approved and signed your quote and accepted our terms and conditions, a 50% deposit is required to get your project underway.

The remaining balance is payable after you’ve had the opportunity to view your custom-made cabinetry at our factory and before delivery.

We’ll explain the process clearly at the beginning of your project, so you know what to expect at each stage.

Yes! We offer in-home consultations within our local service area. For locations outside this area, a $150 consultation fee applies. This fee will be deducted from your quoted price if you proceed with your project.

During your consultation, we’ll discuss your ideas, preferences, lifestyle and budget, while assessing your existing space and any challenges with your current layout.

This helps us understand your vision and create a custom kitchen designed around your home and the way you live.

Yes! We encourage you to visit our showroom to discuss your project in person, view our display kitchen and explore our wide range of colours, materials, finishes, benchtops and hardware.

With options sourced locally and imported from Europe, we can help you find the right combination to suit your style, needs and budget.

At The Kitchen Centre, we believe the best kitchens start with understanding how you live and what matters most to you.

Benchtops and finishes

Yes, we can supply stone or ceramic splashbacks when ordered alongside your stone benchtop.

For other options, such as glass or tiled splashbacks, you’ll need to arrange supply and installation directly with your preferred supplier or installer.

We’re happy to discuss the options with you and help coordinate the timing to ensure everything comes together smoothly.

A quartz benchtop is an engineered surface made primarily from natural quartz combined with resins, pigments and other materials.

Quartz surfaces are popular in modern kitchens for their consistent appearance, wide range of colours and patterns, and relatively low-maintenance finish.

There are plenty of options available to complement your cabinetry and overall kitchen design. We can help you explore the different benchtop materials and finishes to find the right fit for your home.

We recommend using trivets or heat-resistant mats with all benchtop materials to help prevent damage.

Different materials have different levels of heat resistance:

  • Quartz, granite and marble: Direct heat and sudden temperature changes can cause damage, discolouration or cracking.
  • High-pressure laminate: Hot cookware can scorch the surface or damage the laminate, potentially causing bubbling or lifting.
  • Timber: Excessive heat can cause scorching, discolouration or cracking.
  • Stainless steel: Generally heat-resistant, but can discolour or develop marks under certain conditions.
  • Ceramic: Generally offers excellent heat resistance, although sudden temperature changes or impacts can still cause damage.

Always follow the care and maintenance guidelines provided for your specific benchtop material.
